What is NHS Continuing Healthcare?

NHS Continuing Healthcare is the name given to a package of care which is arranged and funded by the NHS for individuals outside of hospital who have ongoing healthcare needs. It is described in full in the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care (revised 2012).

The path to NHS Continuing Healthcare eligibility can be lengthy, time consuming and often stressful. It is therefore crucial that you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your individual case.
